Patented DC/DC Converter Buck-Reset Topology Reduces Power Loss; Achieving 298W/in³ Power Density

Ideal Power today announce their range of DC/DC Converters for the Telecommunications market, a series designed to meet high MTBF and achieve extremely efficient industry leading performance in the most demanding locations. Combining unique patented topology designs and innovative sink-plate technology, the units are able to enhance thermal performance and improve reliability. The range is ideal for such telecommunications applications as Backhaul, Small Cell, LTE, LPWA, Microwave, Broadband and Wireless.

The range boasts high-efficiency levels up to and including 94%, and is designed to meet high power densities of 298W/in³. With the industry’s first patented Buck-Reset technology and other beneficial protection measurements, power loss is reduced, and reliability is dramatically improved due to a reduced amount of components in use required at any one time.

Series variations offer power ratings from 20W~250W/2A~50A/1.2V~24V, all confined within the options of 1/32, 1/16, 1/8, 1/4 or 1/2 brick sizes. Certain units also facilitate unique sink-plate technology to enhance thermal performance. This can be demonstrated in the 27NT 84W/7A 1/32 Brick Series, which achieves an MTBF of 6,400,000 hours at 25°C.

The sink-plate has various functions and features which act in conjunction to ensure optimum performance is achieved through efficient heat management. Please see Image.
