Ideal Power are developing a highly reliable, open-frame battery charger with a universal input that can integrate into any planned or existing charging system as an OEM solution which provides designers and installers the flexibility to achieve the desired charging system without the extra cost and complications of a fully enclosed battery charger.

Available as an install-ready, OEM sub-assembly which can be white-labelled with another brand as to appear as a complete solution, the OEM open frame battery charger aims to reduce the design, development and installation of battery charging systems by implementing the following strategy:

Technically Advanced
Using Smart Microprocessor-controlled technology, the charger will encompass a 7-stage function which covers charge, equalisation and maintenance states and uses Power Factor Correction (PFC) to ensure higher efficiency.

The design features protection circuits such as over-current, short circuit protection, over-voltage protection, thermal protection and output-reverse polarity to make it a very safe unit, which is essential when destined for close-quarters applications such as in caravans and motorhomes.

The charger automatically operates in both constant current and constant voltage modes for batteries up to 48V. Although it is best suited to the trusted Lead Acid family of batteries such as Wet Cell (flooded), Gel Cell, and Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM), the charger is also capable of the Lead Crystal chemistry as well. This includes both Starting batteries and Deep Cycle batteries.

Considering the financial cost of replacement batteries, it is a fundamental requirement to extend the battery life as much as possible, a requirement that using this system can achieve by vastly improving the life-cycle and performance of the battery.

In system critical applications such as Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), it is also important to ensure that the battery is able to function correctly when it is needed most which is an attribute that only an intelligent battery charging system can offer.

Attempting to attain the correct approvals for your application is not only difficult, but it is also a large drain on resources. Using the intelligent charging system the battery can be recharged by a strategy that best suits the condition of the battery cells.
